Boarding / Grooming

Boarding

We offer Science Diet food appropriate for the age of the animal, but we are also happy to feed specific diets brought by the pet's owners when requested.

Because the boarding facility is a part of Northrock Hospital for Animals, our veterinarians are available to examine pets being boarded when requested. In addition, if one of our staff notices a problem or illness with a pet, they are instructed to notify the doctor on duty, who will examine the pet. If a serious illness is suspected, we then try to contact the owner prior to any diagnostic tests or treatments. However, if we cannot contact the owner, we are then obligated to provide enough care to make the pet comfortable and stable until the owner can be reached.

Dogs

The dog boarding facility consists of 13 indoor runs, which are in a heated and air-conditioned area. The dogs are walked three times a day, Monday through Saturday, and twice on Sunday.

Cats

The cat boarding facility is separate from the dog boarding facility in order to provide a stress-free environment. Although many cats live with dogs, we also realize that many do not, and are quite upset when confronted with one. Therefore, the cats are not in visual contact with any dogs and the cat boarding area was built to reduce noise from the dog boarding facility. We also have a separate exercise room equipped with a climbing tree and window to try to give all cat boarders a chance to stretch their legs. However, it is possible to reserve the cat "playroom" specifically for your cat.

Cats can be boarded in cages in our separate cat boarding room, or people can reserve the Cat Playroom. The Cat Playroom comes with a cat climbing tree and window with a window ledge seat. Advanced reservations are needed for the cat boarding room.

We feed Science Diet pet foods.
Pets must be current on vaccines.

Grooming

When requested by owners, we can give routine or medicated baths prior to being picked up from boarding. We just need to know when you make your boarding reservation.

We do not have a professional groomer on staff, so any hair trimming or shaving is reserved for medical reasons. Nail trimming is available upon request.

Giving cats baths can be challenging. Bathing a cat with water is not a natural thing for cats and can sometimes be stressful. Thus, there are times when we may recommend sedating a cat (and sometimes a dog).

However, we will never sedate an animal without first discussing it with the owner and only if the owner is comfortable with our recommendation.
